Flour mill machinery

Enter the wheat the mill grinds and the extraction you expect. The list below is what that implies — cleaning, tempering bins, roll length, sifters and packing — with a rate column you fill in yourself.

How this works →

Your figures

Clean wheat to the first break, not wheat received.

Roller mills run continuously between cleaning shifts.

Flour out as a share of wheat in. The balance is bran and shorts.

Flour is bagged out quickly; bins hold hours, not weeks.

Material take-off

What to buy, at what size, and how many — worked out from the figures above.

Rates

Every line is estimated from those two figures: its steel — or steel-equivalent — mass at the steel rate, stainless at 3.2×, plus its install days at the labour rate. There is no price feed behind this, so the two anchors are seeded from typical Pakistan figures as of September 2026 and are yours to correct. Type over any individual rate and yours is used instead.

Questions

How is the number of roller stands worked out?
By roll length, which is how a flour mill is actually specified: about eleven millimetres of roll for every tonne of wheat ground in twenty-four hours, across break and reduction passages together. A double stand carries two thousand-millimetre rolls, so the total divided by two thousand gives the stands. A mill running fewer hours a day needs more roll to grind the same wheat.
Why does extraction change the equipment?
It moves the split between flour and bran. Higher extraction means more flour bins and a bigger packing line but less work for the bran finishers; lower extraction is the reverse. It does not change the roller stands, which are sized on wheat in, not flour out.
Is the pneumatic system really that big an item?
Yes. Every stream between the stands, the sifters, the purifiers and the bins is lifted by air, and the fans, cyclones, airlocks and ducting together are one of the larger line items in a flour mill. It is also the system most often underestimated at quotation stage.
What is not included?
The building and its floors, the electrical substation and MCC, the flour testing laboratory, bulk truck loading, and any blending or fortification plant. Silo civil work is excluded too — the take-off covers the steel silo, not its foundation.
